Shetland Sheepdog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Stella! About 40 Pounds Lab/Sheltie Stella came to Illinois from a shelter in Alabama the works tirelessly to find rescues for abandoned dogs. We don't know the things that she has been through in her short life, but we do know she needs love! Stella is shy and a bit fearful when she first meets you and will occasionally growl at strangers, but that is most likely due to her past experiences. Once she gets to know you, she will show you her charming and playful side and her energetic personality! Stella gets along with other dogs and really enjoys rough housing with her foster siblings and chewing on toys. In fact, we believe that ... (Read More)she would fit best in a home with another dog(s) and/or older kids. Stella is currently living with a cat. She is not aggressive towards the cat and she does not chase him. In addition to playing, Stella greatly enjoys eating'|most likely due to her being abandoned and lacking food. She shows no food aggression but will try and eat the other dog's food after she quickly finished her own. Stella has basic training completed including 'sit,' and 'come.' She tries to wander around the neighborhood but returns home when called. With training, Stella has the potential to do well in an unfenced yard, but a fenced yard is preferable. She walks well on a leash and enjoys nightly walks before bed. Stella is accustomed to snuggling in bed with you at night and roaming the house while you are at work. She has not been crated, is just about house broken and will have it mastered quickly with continued training. Standard adoption fee is $295 (cash or check) and includes spay/neuter at our participating vets, immunizations/shots up to the point of adoption, fecal, deworming, frontline, 1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, micro-chipping and 30 days of shelter care insurance. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email safehavendogs@yahoo.com for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Please consider becoming a foster home while you search for your new best friend. We need foster homes - pounds are overflowing with puppies and adult dogs that are at-risk and need help. We can only rescue as many as we have foster home commitments. Fostering is a rewarding experience for your family. (Less)
