Rescue Me ID: 16-11-19-00376Georgio (male)

Shetland Sheepdog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Georgio is an adorable, playful, spunky and punky, two-year-old, 14-pound, male, black and white spaniel-mix looking for a loving guardian. Georgio has a few canine friends, but he is a bit bossy with most of the other dogs at the shelter. So, he's looking for a home as the one and only dog. He is incredibly agile, athletic and would make a great agility or trick dog! He loves his dog bed, toys and balls. He is housebroken and crate-trained. Georgio's adoption fee of $300 benefits the rescued pets of Tails of Hope. He is healthy, neutered, de-wormed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested, and on monthly heartworm ... (Read More)preventative. He is currently at the Tails of Hope Shelter in Highland Park, Illinois. To meet and possibly adopt Georgio, please fill in the adoption application at: http://tailsofhope.org/availabledogs.html and follow up by contacting tailsofhope@aol.com or 847-557-9554. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-10-31-00060Sprout (male)

Shetland Sheepdog Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

Sprout is an amazing boy who is guessed to be around 10-12 years old and is very petite- at 20 lbs. His eyesight isn't the greatest, so he is sensitive about movements around his head. Therefore, we think he would do best in an all adult home or a home with children over 15 yrs old. He gets along with other dogs, is very quiet (have yet to hear him bark), and is house trained. He likes playing with toys and he still has a lot of pep to his step. He is also good on a leash. Sprout's adoption donation is $200, which goes to help cover the cost of his medical care, which included a full dental cleaning. For any questions about Sprout, ... If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website at www.perfectpooches.org under the Adoption Process tab. Rescue Me ID: 16-07-16-00494Maggie (female)

Shetland Sheepdog Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

My husband and I adopted Maggie about a month ago. When we got her not only was she recovering from being thrown out of a car, but she also had kennel cough, worms and a parasite. We took her to the vet right away and she is now worm and parasite free. The kennel cough is also gone and her scar is 95% healed. She is great with other dogs, loves people and kids. We fell in love with her and decided to keep her until we took her to the Vet last night. It turns out she has cushing's disease. For those of you who don't know what this is it makes dogs constantly thirsty and makes them urinate more frequently. There is medicine for this condition, ... (Read More)which apparently helps the dogs greatly. However, this medicine can run anywhere from $100-$200 a month. Under normal circumstances Nick and I would take on this additional expense, however because of our current situation we cannot afford this expense right now. In addition, we live in a condo on the 3rd floor. This makes it's harder to take her out more frequently. (which again with the medicine would decrease) We really do not want to bring her back to a shelter. We are going to try and keep her for however long it takes for us to find her a good home. Again, if there is someone who is willing to pay this expense every month, Cushing's disease is very manageable. She really is a great dog and this breaks my heart writing this message. (Less)
