Meet Teddy! Teddy is a Pomeranian mix who from what we know has a very sad story. He was left behind after a family's home was foreclosed. For a few weeks he was fed by a neighbor, until the real estate agent in charge of the house was able to find someone to take Teddy in. We took him in, got him up to date on shots, flea/tick/heartworm preventative, gave him some good food and most of all some TLC. Teddy had terrible mats when we got him and even had infection between his paw pads from being stuck outside in mucky weather for so long. We got im groomed and feeling and looking much, much better. Teddy is a VERY sweet, loving dog, and we intended to keep him. Unfortunately, my German Shepherd will NOT accept him into our pack no matter what I try. We have tried trainers, but it is just a male/male dominance problem on my German Shepherd's part. We will take our time screening homes to make sure we find the perfect one for this sweetheart. Teddy does have some issues that potential adopters need to know about. We strongly believe he was previously abused by his owners, and because of that he does have some fear aggression. He's a sweet dog and loves to be in your lap and apend time with you, but he is VERY sensitive around his neck and ears, which could come from any number of things including long-lasting mats in the area, previous injury, harsh handling, etc. Whatever the reason, while he does not mind being petted in these area, he is NOT okay with his collar or neck area being grabbed in any way and will growl. He has not bitten us, but that is not to say he wouldn't if he were pushed. We are obviously working with Teddy on this with positive reinforcement and he is making huge progres but it is the reason he is ONLY adoptable to a home with dog experience. Teddy should not go to a home with children. He is however, great with other dogs and cats. He is potty trained, and tends to come when you call him. He's very food motivated and this is very helpful with his training. He is learning leash training - he just seems like he has never been on a leash before and again, his neck is a sensitive area. I think a harness would be ideal for him, but we don't currently own one in his size, and we want to continue to work on his leash and collar manners. He is good in the bath, and is okay with brushing if you are VERY gentle. He let me clip his nails just fine, again, being gentle and patient is key here. He's an amazingly gorgeous dog, with a sweet, loving, fun personality, but he needs someone with patience and understanding to teach him to trust people again. We are happy to work with Teddy as long as it takes, but we strongly feel this is not the place for him to spend the rest of his years - Our household is very busy and hectic and after all his years of neglect we feel that he would thrive in a relaxed home where he was able to get all of the one on one attention he deserves. More about Teddy - Weight - 19.6 lbs Age - Approx 5 years Teddy is not yet neutered. He will either be neutered prior to leaving, or leaving on a neuter contract. |Rescue Me ID: 14-01-15-00358Sonny (female)|
We are seeking a new home for our loved dog Sonny. he is 2 years old and very sweet. He is approximately 45 lbs, with a low but long body and he has a beautiful golden coat with white markings on his paws, belly and face. He is the sweetest dog ever and loves little babies and his owner. He has lots of energy and needs a family that can give him space to run. He needs tons of love and is very obedient. He is bell trained and is so smart that he knows how to open up the back door to let himself out! His only issues are that he is mildy nervous and anxious, but this mostly occurs if he doesn't get enough exercise. We love him very much, but sadly we just cannot give him the level of play time he needs. Our home is too small and we will be moving somewhere that would be even more confining for him. We believe he deserves a better daily routine than we have been able to provide, and thus we hope to find a family with the kinds of flexibility and environment that will suit his high energy and playful nature. please contact me for more pictures and to ask any questions. It is with a heavy heart that we post this ad, and I assure you he will be coming from a loving and safe environment! (Less)
